Mine Engineering

Mine Engineering is a branch of engineering chiefly concerned with the discovery, development and exploitation of ores and minerals. A Mine Engineer is a trained engineer with the knowledge of the science, economics and arts of mineral location, extraction, concentration and sale, the administrative and financial problems of importance in connection with the profitable conduct of mining. The one thing that really important for me to be a Mine Engineer is create mine from the map in the papper to be really mine in the earth, from unproductive land to be productive land with exploitation of ores and minerals from insides the earth.

Work environments vary by occupation are likely scientists and technicians work in office buildings and laboratories, while miners and mining engineers spend much of their time in the mine. Geologists who specialize in the exploration of natural resources may have to travel for extended periods to remote locations, in all types of climates, in order to locate ore, mineral or coal deposits.

Working conditions in mines can be unusual and sometimes dangerous. Workers in surface mines is subject to uneven outdoor work in all kinds of weather and climates. Some surface mines shut down in the rainy, because water from the rain covering the mine site makes work too difficult. Physical strength is necessary, because the work involves lifting, stooping and climbing. Surface mining, however, usually is less risky than underground mining. In underground mines are damp and dark, and some can be very hot. At times, several inches of water may cover tunnel floors. Although underground mines have electric lights, only the lights on miners caps illuminate many areas. Workers in mines with very low roofs may have to work on their hands and knees, backs, or stomachs, in confined spaces. In underground mining operations, dangers include the possibility of an explosion, exposure to harmful gases, or electric shock.

Mining engineers usually are employed at the location of natural deposits, often near small communities and sometimes outside the Indonesia. Those in research and development, management, consulting, or sales, however, often are located in metropolitan areas. There is no mining without human resources. People are ultimately what mining is all about. People to plan and run the mines. People to buy, enjoy and benefit from the mine’s products. And people affected, for better or worse, by mines.

Coal industry was previously taken as the second energy resource after the oil. Coal mining development as the alternative energy resource. Undeniable that mines besides give many benefit for human, its also can generate environmental impact. To reduce the environmental impact, the Mine Engineer must have to with vision of environment, so that can create friendly mine of environment and preserve the environment.

In reality, mining and agriculture are two basic industries which play a part of the important to development of modern civilization. So that among mining and agriculture have to be well-balanced or equiping each other.

Not close possibility, the trend of future mining methods is not only drilling and blasting techniques, as one would suppose strangely enough it is a reversional trend to spalling and pulverizing rock using extremes of temperature change and pressure, similar to primitive mining methods in principle, with revolving cutter heads advance by hydraulic jacks under extraordinary pressures. They will be capable of continuous mining under remote control and will advance through the hardest rock formations rapidly.
